    Billable Time vs. Unbilled Time

Red Gate Design considers these circumstances billable:

    • Actual time spent on creating the design
    • Researching the marketplace on behalf of the customer
    • Print buying
    • Computer troubleshooting, in person and over the phone
    • Additions to the design job not included in the agreed upon job quote
    • Changes to the design job not included in the agreed upon job quote

Red Gate Design does not consider these circumstances billable:

    • Phone calls about Red Gate Design's services
    • Phone calls about a design job in progress
    • Corrections of mistakes that RGD made (hopefully a rare occurrence)
    • Quoting on a customer's job, either a ballpark quote or an itemized quote

What if the design job's time or cost begins to exceed the job quote?

If a design job will exceed the quote that Red Gate Design previously supplied, or a limitation set by the customer, Red Gate will stop and contact the customer for discussion. Work on this particular job will pause until this situation is resolved.

    Billing and Payment Policies

Red Gate Design expects to be paid at the completion of the design job, when the finished design(s) are delivered. RGD offers a "grace period" of seven calendar days from the completion date to receive payment in full.

If payment is not made within thirty calendar days after the grace period expires, ten percent of the job's bottom line is added to the design job's grand total for every week that the design job is unpaid.

If payment is still not made after four weeks past the first thirty days, Red Gate Design will turn over collection of payment to a professional collection agency.

Red Gate Comics will call or contact the client at every step in this process, reminding the customer of the payment required and penalties for delinquency. The completed design job is not the property of the customer until full payment is made.
